Description

A three-dimensional positioning and production monitoring system for dredgers that significantly increases the efficiency of hydraulic engineering works. With this system, the operator can monitor the dredger's position relative to the depth map, the position of the suction/cutter head relative to the bottom relief, the design depth and the design boundaries. In addition, the operator can always see which areas have already been dredged and which have not. The dredge master can also monitor production in real time, both in terms of slurry and dry material.

How the system works:
Hydrographic survey data is first loaded into the software, from which the program builds a bottom model with depth distribution. During hydraulic works, the bottom model changes its color scheme in real time in the places where the suction/cutter head has passed. At the same time, when working with the 3D system, the operator sees a moving side projection of the suction/cutter head in real time, which allows working with high accuracy and efficiency. In other words, the dredger operator sees what is happening on the bottom.
In addition to 3D positioning, the dredger operator receives information on slurry density, slurry velocity and dredger production, which makes it possible to keep operation in the optimal mode, thereby reducing operating costs for fuel, wear of the suction/cutter head, pipeline silting, etc. The system also stores and transmits data on the excavated volumes, both in slurry and dry material, to a cloud service, making it possible to assess reclaimed volumes, compare shift productivity, evaluate completed volumes and plan upcoming ones. Thanks to the GSM modem installed in the workstation, project managers can automatically receive reports on completed volumes broken down by operator, remotely monitor the progress of works, create tasks, upload maps, and evaluate the dynamics of completed and upcoming works from any internet-connected device using their personal login and password.

The system significantly reduces project operating costs through operation in the optimal mode, control of completed volumes, elimination of wasted work, survey works, over-dredging, under-dredging and humps, avoidance of hazardous objects, and remote monitoring of the progress of works. The efficiency gain is estimated at 20% on average compared to working without the system. Below is the visual interface of the dredger operator's system. In your case it will differ somewhat, since the 3D model of the dredger is created individually for each specific project.

In the basic configuration, the system performs the following functions:
• Real-time data on slurry density and velocity, as well as dredge pump production;
• Operational summary of excavated volumes in slurry and dry material, with separate records for multiple operators;
• Real-time display of the position of the dredger and its mechanisms;
• Display of current depths on the digital map of the work area according to
the initial survey as a color distribution;
• Display of a 3D model of the design level;
• Dynamic recording of the dredging process (monitoring changes in the bottom
relief resulting from dredging works using color depth maps and as a
side projection of the bottom profile);
• Display of additional information on GPS signal quality, current
coordinates, heel and trim;
• Map rotation angle linked to the vessel's heading;
• Configuration of the system's sensor parameters;
• Selection of the work area;
• Built-in graphic editor allowing the dredge master to adjust the graphic
representation of the work area directly (marking dredging
boundaries, obstacles, underwater and surface objects, shoreline or
berth line, etc.);
• Personal dashboard settings. Individual customization of the
interface, widgets and information panel extensions. Ability to display
any readings if the corresponding sensors are available (in the basic configuration:
heel, trim);
• Entry of the design dredging depth (reference level);
• Measurement of distances and bearings on the work area map, obtaining coordinates
of points selected on the map;
• Export of projects from the program (including in xyz format);
• Zooming and viewing different parts of the work area map;
• Saving information on the progress of dredging works in a dedicated archive;
• Saving information on excavated volumes for each operator, as well as for
the entire project, in a dedicated archive;
• Remote monitoring of the progress of works (in particular, reclaimed
volumes per hour/shift/project, production), etc.
