Bottom sediments and silt often become a real nightmare for water bodies, especially those used for fish farming of various kinds. Standing, well-warmed water in a shallow pond creates almost ideal conditions for the vigorous growth of all kinds of vegetation. As a result, the rate of siltation and the formation of other bottom deposits increases many times over.
The water gradually silts up, and its oxygenation by natural plant sources becomes much more difficult. The outcome is low productivity, poor species survival and, eventually, complete degradation. And if beneficial algae are replaced by harmful vegetation that does not need oxygen-rich water, all life in the water body is at risk. This problem, by the way, affects not only lakes, ponds and reservoirs but also rivers: in areas with slow currents and shallow depths, the bed silts up just as quickly.

Another advantage of this method is that it is environmentally friendly: the lake, reservoir or river channel is cleared of harmful deposits without temporary draining, so the flora and fauna of the water body suffer minimal harm.
